Since being acquired by Disney in 2012, Star Wars has made massive strides on the big and small screen. With five movies and a multitude of TV shows released on the Disney+ streaming service, it seemed like there were no surprises left. However, Star Wars revealed one more with the upcoming movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu, starting production in 2024. But how does Pedro Pascal fit into this?
The Mandalorian is a series that explores a unique character new to the Star Wars universe, a bounty hunter named Din Djarin, who grew a connection with a young alien named Grogu, initially named Baby Yoda by the fans. Through this duo, audiences explored new corners of the galaxy and encountered characters like Luke Skywalker.
As of now, Pascal hasn’t been confirmed to appear in the film. However, the idea of replacing Pascal wouldn’t be easy as the star has stated in 2022, “I love going to the movies. Going back and just being able to be with an audience again is one of the most important things to me. If that happens with The Mandalorian, all I can say is… please!” Which more than establishes the actor’s commitment to the role.
Fans have also voiced their concern over the idea of Pascal not reprising his role, with one X user worried about not even seeing Pascal’s face.
However, another user was concerned the Mandalorian being discussed may not even be Pascal’s character, with other names like Bo-Katan Kryze being viable options for this movie version.
While it may appear like a no-brainer that Pascal would return for The Mandalorian and Grogu, it’s important to note that the actor is already slated for Gladiator 2 and The Last of Us Season 2. Plus, he’s rumored to be Reed Richards in Marvel Studio’s Fantastic Four movie.
With production for The Mandalorian and Grogu starting in 2024, there’s still hope that Pedro Pascal will don the helmet once again.
