Two RBD members walked Premio Lo Nuestro’s magenta carpet yesterday (Feb. 22). However, the duo wasn’t able to fully participate in the award ceremony due to the organization’s failure to give the artists the right ticket. The award show took place at the Kaseya Center in Miami, FL.
Christopher von Uckermann and Christian Chávez stunned the award’s carpet yesterday. Uckermann showed up decked in all-black attire with sunglasses, as a glammed-out Chávez wore a black deep v-satin look with an open back paired with matching long gloves. The two made their way down the carpet, giving interviews and posing for the ceremony’s official photos together.
In an interview with Billboard, the duet revealed they’re both working on solo musical projects this year. As RBD, they also unveiled that they’re working on a tour documentary and “a Live in São Paulo” that they recorded.
Though the media portion of the ceremony seemed to go well, the aftermath created a social media stir. After the magenta carpet, von Uckermann posted an Instagram story saying the two were not allowed into the award ceremony. “We are not going to be with you because we were given the wrong tickets, and apparently, there were no more tables. This is something that surprises me a bit. But oh well, it seems like a strange organization, and we are going to go to dinner,” von Uckermann said. “But yeah, the nominees couldn’t get into the event because they didn’t have the right tickets.”
In a follow-up video, he thanked all his global social media followers and said that it hurts them to have gone all the way to Miami only for the award show not to have their spots available. “On behalf of RBD, it hurts us, but we are bigger than that,” he added.
The group won the Grupo o Dúo Del Año – Pop award, which was not televised and only announced on social media. Premio Lo Nuestro have yet to comment on the unfortunate situation.
