Could a corrido be in Alicia Keys’ future? During a concert in Guadalajara, Jalisco, on Friday night (May 19), the R&B superstar sang along to one Peso Pluma’s hits.
For the past month, Keys has been performing concerts throughout Latin America. For each stop, she has paid tribute to the music of the area she visited. While in Bogotá, Colombia, Keys brought out Karol G as a special guest. The Colombian singer performed “Mientras Me Curo Del Cora” and also joined her for a Spanglish version of her hit “No One.”
While in Mexico City, Keys brought out Mexican-American singer Ángela Aguilar as a special guest. She performed a bilingual mariachi version of Yuridia’s “Qué Agonía” with Aguilar. The two artists also sang Keys’ “Looking For Paradise” together.
The singer wrapped up the Latin American leg of her world tour in Guadalajara. A singer who famously grew up in that city is Peso Pluma. She gave a nod to the Mexican singer and rapper by playing one of his hits. She sang a few lines of her classic “Girl On Fire” over the sound of Eslabon Armado and Peso Pluma’s duet “Ella Baila Sola.” She also harmonized a bit with their voices. The crowd went wild as she encouraged them to sing along.
“It’s the last date of my tour, so I can do what I want,” Keys said. “I love this song so much.”
Fans of the “Empire State of Mind” singer were happy to see her acknowledge the global hit by Eslabon Armado and Peso Pluma during her concert. “The fact that Alicia keys played peso pluma at her concert,” one person wrote on Twitter with fire emojis. “Alicia keys playing peso pluma in GDL is legendary,” another person wrote.
Keys kicks off another U.S. leg of her tour on June 28 in Sunrise, FL. Peso Pluma teased something coming on May 26 in an Instagram post with the word “Bye!”
