“Pasiempre” is one of the songs on Tainy’s debut album, Data. Anuel AA was originally going to feature on the track, but Tainy later revealed a change of plans. The stellar song instead included Arcángel, Myke Towers, Jhayco, Omar Courtz, Arca, and a secret feature from Bad Bunny. In his guest verse, Benito talked about his beginnings in Latine trap and how he’s outgrown the genre. “I’m not the king of trap / Neither the god of trap / I’m Bad Bunny and I’m bigger than trap,” he sang.
Anuel AA is known for calling himself the “god of trap,” so listeners assumed this was a diss directed at him. In his 2020 song “Narcos,” Anuel AA claimed he was responsible for making Latine trap go global. The public perceived Bad Bunny’s verse in “Pasiempre” to be a response to “Narcos”—even Anuel thought Benito was dissing him. On Instagram, he revealed his DMs with the “un x100to” singer, where they talked about who his real target was.
“Bad Bunny said it himself,” Anuel AA wrote on Instagram. “THIS TIRAERA IS NOT FOR ME. MAYBE IT’S FOR MOLUSCO AND CHENTE OR MAYBE ALOFOKE. I DON’T KNOW BUT WELL… IT’S FOR THOSE WHO MAKE PODCASTS.”
Anuel AA was referring to podcast hosts in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. According to the messages that he shared, Bad Bunny wrote, “That bar was inspired by the podcasters and people in the genre that I have seen talking about and belittling my contributions to trap.” In the message thread, he also mentioned wanting to release “Lunar,” which could be another collaboration with Anuel AA.
