Eladio Carrion is ready for his Hollywood close-up. The 29-year-old Latine trap artist joined forces with Rubicon Global Media to develop a series based on his life.
“This project will start a new era of my career, opening the door to Film and Television, something I’ve been passionate about since I was a kid,” Carrión said in a press release.
Carrion will share stories of his life growing up in Puerto Rico and the States. “This series will entertain general audiences and resonate with viewers who understand what it means to belong to more than one place,” he said in a statement.
Since the project is still in the early development stages, it’s unknown if Carrion will star in it as himself, but he is taking on a producer role. However, him starring on it would definitely make sense. Prior to becoming the Latin Grammy-winning award artist we know today, Carrion had a huge following on Vine, where he’d upload short comedic skits.
Though Vine is a social platform of the past, his fans have reuploaded some of his funny ones to TikTok, like his famous “Osama no soy el” video. All these years later, his day-one fans can’t get enough, with one commenting, “This never gets old. Lmao.”
Rubicon Global Media is a company recently formed by Chris Albrecht and Jorge Granier to help develop Latine projects in film and television. The deal with Carrion comes shortly after the company announced a development deal with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson to produce a series focused on “Hispanic characters.”
It also follows Carrión’s first Latin Grammy win for “Best Rap/Hip Hop Song” with “Coco Chanel” featuring Bad Bunny. Last week, he celebrated concluding his 2023 Sauce USA Tour with three sold-out shows in the Dominican Republic. Back in May, he hosted his own music festival in Puerto Rico, Sauce Boyz Fest, where he had a star-studded lineup of guests, including Lil Wayne, Tokischa, Omar Courtz, Bad Bunny, Noriel, and others.
