Oscar nominee Edward James Olmos (Stand and Deliver) will be a guest star in season 2 of Marvel’s animated series, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. The announcement happened during a panel at the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF) on Friday (June 2).
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is based on characters created by Marvel Comics. The series follows Lunella Lafayette, AKA Moon Girl, a 13-year-old Black superhero, and her dinosaur companion, a red Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Along with the special announcement, an image of Olmos’ character in the series was revealed. Olmos will be lending his voice to the villain known as Molecule Man. Disney and Marvel describe his character as “a powerful being with the ability to manipulate nonliving organic matter.”
The character description goes on to say that Molecule Man, “Often feeling like there was no place for him … escaped to a whole new planet and used his powers to create an incredible world of natural wonder, soon making it a popular destination for aliens and beings across the multiverse.”
In the comics, Molecule Man forms when a laboratory technician at a nuclear plant comes into contact with radiation that causes him to mutate and gives him the ability to control all matter and energy down to the molecular level. He first appeared in the comic book Fantastic Four No. 20 in November 1963. And he was created by iconic Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
