Karol G can add another milestone to her career as an international star. The Colombian singer made her debut at the Met Gala 2024 in a stunning fairy outfit that was compared to a popular Lord of the Rings character.
Even before appearing at the Met Gala, Karol G created a stir online this afternoon when she was spotted in New York City. She was photographed on her way to her hotel while all covered up in a gray outfit.
The theme for this year’s Met Gala was “The Garden of Time.” Vogue described it as a “celebration of clothing and fashion so fragile that it can’t ever be worn again.” Karol G was first spotted leaving her hotel while shrouded under an umbrella. She appeared at the event in a sparkling gown and headband that was reminiscent of a garden fairy. Karol G also had on prosthetic fairy/elf-like ears.
“I think this was the perfect opportunity for me to express how I love fairies and dreamy vibes and fantasies,” she told Vogue. “This was the world that I wanted to go to with Marc Jacobs who is the designer of this dress.”
Karol’s ethereal look quickly went viral as she was compared to the elf Galadriel from the The Lord of the Rings movies. In the movies she was played by Cate Blanchett and had the iconic crown and hair parted to show her elf ears.
One person on X wrote, “Karol G looking beautiful as Lady Galadriel in her first #MetGala.” Another person added, “The G in Karol G stands for Galadriel.”
Some fans were saying she was Galadriel but with hips.
Others were asking if the “G” in Karol G stood for Galadriel.
And others were just living for it.
Karol G appeared to be one of the attendees most on theme with the “Garden of Time” theme. This year’s Met Gala included Bad Bunny and Jennifer Lopez as co-chairs.
