Lopez vs. Lopez is getting a second season. On Friday (May 12), NBC announced it was renewing the first-year comedy series, which stars George Lopez and his real-life daughter, Mayan, Selenis Leyva, Brice Gonzalez, Matt Shively, and Al Madrigal.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Season 2 will return to NBC midseason with other scripted shows, including Law & Order: Organized Crime, Magnum P.I., and La Brea.

The first season of Lopez vs. Lopez consisted of 22 episodes. The season finale aired on Tuesday (May 9) with guest star Snoop Dogg. Mayan Lopez posted a message on Instagram earlier that day thanking everyone who watched Season 1.

“This is hopefully just the end of the first chapter,” she wrote and included an emoji of a pair of crossed fingers. “We truly have the best cast and crew and thank you ALL who have worked hard and laughed harder to make this an incredible season.”

Last month, NBC announced that Lopez vs. Lopez would move from Friday nights to Tuesday nights for the final three episodes of its first season. NBC said the new timeslot would “benefit” the series because of a Night Court lead-in, which meant it was in a stronger position to get more viewers and thus a second season.

Statistics from NBC put Lopez vs. Lopez at an average of 0.83 in the 18-49 demographic, which is up nearly 200 percent from live and same-day viewing.

The first season of the show brought in several Latine guest stars, including Constance Marie, Rita Moreno, Cheech Marin, Harvey Guillén, Jacob Vargas, Justina Machado, Danny Trejo, Melissa Fumero, and more.
