Los Tigres Del Norte are taking música mexicana to new places. On Sunday (April 14), the legendary Mexican group made their U.K. debut with a concert in London, which caused a frenzy among fans.
Back in March, the line-up for the London Latin Music Festival was revealed. Throughout this month, several Latine acts are performing in venues around the capital of England. The line-up includes Lila Downs, Ana Tijoux, La Yegros, Ëda Diaz, and many others. Los Tigres Del Norte were proudly representing música mexicana on the festival bill.
Los Tigres Del Norte’s highly anticipated U.K. debut took place at the Eventim Apollo in London. A few days before, they got a boost in support from Swedish rock group The Hives, who encouraged their fans to see the Mexican band. Apparently, the Los Tigres Del Norte fans in London were so excited to finally see their favorite band live, that they completely stormed the stage. A video has gone viral online of the guys in the band surrounded by fans as they try to perform a song.
The crowd got so out of hand that Los Tigres Del Norte were unable to finish their concert. A few days after the show, the guys expressed their gratitude to the fans they performed for on their European tour, especially for the people that went to see them in London. They appeared to take the fan frenzy in stride in a post in the band’s Instagram stories.
“That was incredible!” Hernán Hernández, the group’s bass guitarist, said in the video. “We’re very grateful because what a way to end the tour. All the people went on the stage. We couldn’t continue singing because we were all squashed, but we were excited.”
Los Tigres Del Norte kicked off the U.S. leg of their Siempre Contigo Tour on Feb. 2 at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, CA. The group is returning to the states on April 19 for a concert in Greensboro, NC.
