It’s time to lace up some new sneakers in celebration of Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead). The big-name brands, including Nike, Adidas, and Converse, have released their 2023 styles, and we’re sure you’re going to make them part of your personal collection.
According to Sneaker News, Adidas has released three separate styles. They are called Samba, Gazelle, and Campus 00s.
“Souls complete a journey from the beyond,” reads an Instagram post from Adidas Mexico. “We honor the memories and teachings of our loved ones through the traditional Samba, Campus and Gazelle silhouettes, now in iconic Day of the Dead colors.” One of the colors is a shade of orange reminiscent of the marigold flower associated with the holiday.
Over at Nike, the brand unveiled four new sneakers for the holiday: Air Jordan 1 Zoom CMFT 2, Dunk Low, Air Max 1, and Blazer Mid.
The Air Jordan 1 Zoom CMFT 2 features a black and gold design that includes a flower pattern and skull motif. The Air Max 1 is a pink sneaker that is covered in flower embroidery.
Converse has taken its Chuck 70 and Chuck Taylor All-Star Lift and given them some Día de Muertos flare. The Chuck 70 features a rainbow-colored papel picado pattern on its canvas along with images of sugar skulls and flowers. Chuck Taylor All-Star Lift platform sneaker features sugar skull icons on the tongue and heel.
This year’s Día de Muertos sneakers for Adidas and Converse are currently available for purchase online. Nike releases its sneakers on October 21. Will you be buying a pair to show off this year at any Día de Muertos events?
