Peso Pluma’s newest collaboration just dropped. On July 13, Ryan Castro enlisted the popular Mexican artist for “QUEMA,” an old school-inspired reggaeton joint track.

Peso Pluma isn’t quite done surprising his fans yet. Following his unexpected cumbia norteña “TULUM” with Grupo Frontera, the on-demand collaborator released another banger outside his corridos tumbados realm. In “QUEMA,” Peso Pluma’s high-pitched voice sits on top of a hypnotizing synth that distinguishes the song from other reggaeton beats. Produced by SOG, the highly-anticipated track marks Peso’s return to el movimiento.

Directed by Felipe Mejía, the music video features the two artists vibing in Guadalajara, Mexico. It starts with them driving classic Cadillac cars while laying down hard-hitting verses about a desirable lover that burns back. In “QUEMA,” we also hear Peso’s lower-octave vocals during his verse that invites his prospective lover to Tulum. Other shots include the duo, alongside the song’s producer, enjoying themselves at a house party, where people are perreando with a mariachi band.

The new song’s hype has been real, on and off social media. Not only has Castro’s initial TikTok post about the collaboration garnered over 2.2 million views since its publication, but his fans also appear to already know the song prior to its official release. During a show in Madrid, Spain (July 9), the Colombian singer sang a piece of the then-unreleased song, and it was echoed back by his audience.

Peso Pluma is currently on his first-ever U.S. tour. His next performance is tomorrow (July 14) at Rio Rancho, NM. He will then continue to Fort Worth, TX (July 15), San Antonio, TX (July 16), and Las Vegas, NV (July 21). Castro is also currently on tour. He’s performing tonight (July 13) in Barcelona, Spain. He’s also set to perform at the Baja Beach Fest in Rosarito, Mexico, on Aug. 11; the El Pum Pum Latin Festival in Atlanta, GA, on Sept. 3; and the Coca-Cola Flow Fest in Mexico City, Mexico, on Nov. 25.
