Pitchfork Music Festival is expanding to Mexico City. The first Pitchfork Music Festival in Mexico City is set to happen on Mar. 6 to 9, 2024.

“With its incredible and diverse music scene, Mexico City is a natural home for our festival,” Pitchfork’s editor-in-chief, Puja Patel, said in a press statement. “We look forward to championing a lineup of local and international artists, and, as always, creating space for music discovery and community. I’m especially grateful to our partners at Indie Rocks for sharing our vision and bringing it to life.”

Pitchfork Festival is an annual summer music festival put together by Pitchfork Media. Its original location is in Chicago, IL, and it began in 2011. The festival’s talent ranges in diverse genres, such as alternative rock, electronic, hip-hop, and beyond.

To make this vision come to life, Pitchfork teamed up with local venues Foro Indie Rocks!, Frontón Bucareli, Fünk Club, and Yu Yu. The first performing acts have yet to be announced, but we could expect them to be revealed in the next months. Former Pitchfork Festival alumnus include the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arca, and Divino Niño.

“Welcome to🔹Pitchfork Music Festival CDMX🔹! Over the course of four days, we will witness legendary performances from both national and international artists who are shaping the course of the music industry,” the official festival’s social media said in Spanish. “The lineup will be unveiled this fall, and passes are now available for purchase through the link in bio. See you in 2024!” Pitchfork encourages its readers to follow the new festival edition’s official social media handles for further updates.

Furthermore, limited tickets for the inaugural festival in Mexico City are already on sale. Pitchfork Plus passes are available for 4,400 Mexican pesos (approximately $245), giving access to four headline venue shows and three club shows – the festival organizers have yet to clarify if and how they’re separating the upcoming talent roster. Pitchfork Standard passes are available for 3,400 Mexican pesos (approximately $189), granting access to four headline venue shows. Individual tickets will be available this fall.

Social media users are excited about the news. An Instagram user, earlsmithie, wrote in Spanish: “The crossover we have been waiting for.” Another Instagram user, sarairojascruz, said in Spanish: “Kheeeeeeeee 🥹 yes we are crying.”

Besides Mexico City, Pitchfork has four other annual editions: Chicago, Paris, London, and Berlin.
