Shakira celebrated the release of her latest album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Last night (Mar. 25), the Colombian pop icon also performed “Puntería” live for the first time. She also opened up about why she took so long to release new music, which involved her ex-husband “dragging” her back.

Last Friday, Shakira released Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, her first album in seven years. The LP includes her hits like “Te Felicito” featuring Rauw Alejandro, “TQG” with Karol G, and the Global hit “BZRP Music Sessions #53” with Bizarrap. Before performing, Shakira sat down with Fallon to talk about the LP. She got candid about returning to music after her breakup with ex Gerard Piqué.

“It was really hard to put together a body of work,” she said during the interview segment. “I didn’t have time. [It was] the husband factor. Now I’m husbandless. Yeah, the husband was dragging me down. Now I’m free. Now I can actually work.”

Later on, Shakira performed her latest single, “Puntería.” She originally released the song as a collaboration with Cardi B. On a crystallized set, Shakira sang the song live for the first time. She put on a fierce performance that included sexy choreography. Shakira turned Fallon’s stage into a preview of her upcoming world tour.

“The energy of the audience was insane tonight!” Shakira wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) after the show. “I can’t wait to see you all at my shows!!  Thanks @jimmyfallon for a great time!!”

Last night, Shakira also released the music video for her song cumbia-norteña “(Entre Paréntesis)” featuring Grupo Frontera. Some of her dance moves are reminiscent of the performances by late Tejano music icon Selena. The album includes more collaborations with Rauw Alejandro and Bizarrap. Rauw teamed up with Shakira again for “Cohete” and Bizarrap produced “La Fuerte.” Her sons Sasha and Milan feature in the heartfelt ballad “Acróstico.”
