Thalia is entering her corridos tumbados era. On Friday night (Sept. 15), the Latine pop icon performed her upcoming single “Perdón Bebé” live for the first time in New York City at a Mexican Independence Day event.

Back in May, Thalia hinted that she was recording music with Jimmy Humilde, the founder of corridos tumbados label Rancho Humilde. That imprint has launched the careers of Mexican corridos stars like Natanael Cano, Junior H, Fuerza Regida, and Ivonne Galáz. Humilde posted the video of their time together in the recording studio. At the MTV Video Music Awards’ red carpet last week, Thalia revealed that the music she cooked up with Humilde was on the way.

In honor of Mexican Independence Day, Thalia was the headliner of the Grito de Independencia concert at Bryant Park in New York, NY. In addition to performing a few of her hits, she sang her upcoming corrido “Perdón Bebé” for the first time. In the emotional song, Thalia sang about wishing an ex well after a breakup. Her performance drew cheers from the crowd of over 10,000 people.

Thalia has yet to announce the release date for “Perdón Bebé.” She released a clip of the song to social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, where fans are using the sound for their own videos. In an Instagram story, Thalia revealed that she is contemplating going on tour again following the love she received from the crowd at the Grito de Independencia concert.

“Perdón Bebé” is not Thalia’s first time recording a regional Mexican music song. She mixed elements of ranchera music into her Latine pop anthem “Amor a La Mexicana” in 1997. In 2001, Thalia released an album where she re-recorded many of her hits in the style of Mexican banda. Back in May, Thalia released her Mixtape LP, where she covered rock en español classics by Soda Stereo, Aterciopelados, and more.
