Julissa Prado, Founder and CEO of Rizos Curls, is bringing her entrepreneurial spirit to the jewelry world with her latest partnership with fashion brand Fossil. Prado, a first-generation Mexican-American, launched Rizos Curls in 2017, a hair brand for curly, coily, and wavy hair that was fueled by the Latina entrepreneurial spirit. Through this new collaboration, Prado is once again tapping into her roots and paying homage to her culture.
“For many Latinos, we use jewelry as symbols for important milestones in our life. For me, it’s my baptism cross necklace, quince nameplate, and cuban link bracelet with my initials from my graduation, just to name a few,” said Prado in a press release announcing the collaboration. “This jewelry not only gave me extra confidence during those important moments, but I am able to continue wearing that moment of pride every time I put my jewelry.”
The collection includes a gold-tone brass necklace ($80) and a matching chain bracelet ($65) featuring an emerald green teardrop crystal. The accessories are packaged in an earthy, floral tin can specially designed by Prado. In a video on her Instagram page, she shared, “I wanted the design on the classic @Fossil tin box to represent my family’s garden that included roses, Mexican orchids, hibiscus flowers, and lime trees.”
Jewelry design was also a former interest of Prado, who shared in an Instagram post that she even launched an IG page @QueFancyJewelry to promote her own jewelry line before launching Rizos Curls.
“I remember telling myself that one day jewelry would come back into my life somehow… and it did.”
This latest collab with Fossil was launched to celebrate our National Heritage Month. In honor of this collaboration, the accessories brand will make a donation to Latinos for Education.
The Julissa Prado x Fossil jewelry collaboration can be purchased online at fossil.com and select Fossil retail stores.
