When Miss Nicaragua Sheynnis Palacios was crowned the winner of the 72nd Miss Universe, audiences around the world erupted in joy over the historical win. Now, an emotional video of Palacios’ family reacting to the queen’s win is going viral on social media. Pass the tissues!
In the video, uploaded on TikTok by @ari.arana, Palacios’ family is seen gathered together in a living room, intently watching the Miss Universe finale on November 18th. The video shows the family’s reaction through the intense final moments when the semi-finalist was announced through to the moment that Nicaragua was crowned as the winner.
Palacios’ mother, seen in the middle in a gold dress and a crown, falls to her knees at the announcement, crying tears of joy as her family screams and embraces her. It’s also important to note that during the broadcast win, through Palacios tears you could see her mouth “te amo mama” to the camera.
The reaction video from the family has received over 2 million views and has garnered comments ranging from “Impossible not to cry when seeing the reaction of the mother” and “There’s nothing like a mother’s love,” the latter being from Netflix’s Con Todo.
Across social media, several reaction videos to Nicaragua’s historical win are also making the rounds.
There were even people noting Miss Venezuela jumping up and down during Palacios win at the competition.
The 2023 Miss Universe competition was held in El Salvador, and featured 84 contestants from across the globe. Miss Nicaragua was the only Latina standing in the semi-final round. Palacios was up against Anntonia Porsild of Thailand in the final round before being crowned Miss Universe.
